What is the best way to set up z-560's as 2.1?

ok, I just ordered the z-560's and I can't wait to get them after all the reviews I have read. I have a SB live, so doing 4-channel output is not the problem... desk space is. There is no feasable way to do a 4.1 setup in my current room, there is no wall behind me and no furniture to put the rear speakers on. I may consider moving around my stuff, but right now that seems like too much work to consider, so let me continue with my question...

I want to know the best way and settings to do a 2.1 with these speakers. Like do I use the M3D (if anyone can tell me or direct me to a good site that explains M3D I would really appreciate that) and what should I change in my SB live control? I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I want the best sound possible.... he he he. Anyway, thanks for any responses, I really appreciate them

Spike,

You have the same problem I do, but in my case, the rear wall is too far back. Anyhow, I have them on my desk. The fronts next to my LCD monitor, and the rears on the corners of the desk, my desk is about 4 1/2-5 feet across, and provides a pretty nice platform. I would however recommend that your next upgrade be the sound card. Get any of the following: Santa Cruz, Audigy or Acustic Edge. The addition of any of these cards will make your music come to life, and gaming that is out of this world.

Congrats on the superb purchase

Thanks for the advice, my only issue is that my monitor is on the side of my desk because my second monitor is on the other side, so my left speaker is all-ready on the edge of my desk, so mounting the speaker there is not an option. I can put my other speaker on the right wall... so that might work. what do you think?

Can't you get some speaker wire and mount those bad boys on the walls? It may now look pretty, but I imagine you'll be doing most of your looking at your monitor.

Otherwise, you could always consider just putting the Left Front & L Rear right next to each other and do the same with the RF & RR. Personally, I don't think all that much of the M3D... I guess that it's fine if you only have 2 channel audio piped into your z560s.

Oh, that's it--- use the M3D and unplug the rear channel from your sound card, and there's your 2 channel audio! (doesn't sound like much fun to me).

(I'm not trying to be a smart@ss... really!)
