What is the best way to remote into your home PC ?

I would like to start logging into my PC from work...but want it to be secure and encrypted...I was using remote desktop connection but I don't really like it....

I would appreciate any recommendations

You may want to look into a security device, you can buy a cheap Zyxel unit (Zywall 2) or similar for around 150 bucks that will give you VPN connectivity. You can then buy a program such as SSH sentinel to connect.
