Do you mean a firewall? Zonealarm is what I use, but there are many.

On that note.. I need to keep my dad out of my hard drive.. I have a partitioned drive here at home.. lot's of letters.. all the way to H: .. haha.. but yeah.. we're running NT and I want to set it up so that he needs to put in a passwerd to get into E: ??? or just my directory anyways.. at least.. maybe out of the cache too :) hah!!!

I too need to lock up my pc this holiday season. Gonna have lots of people in the house, some for as long as 2 weeks. I've been looking for some sort of desktop locking scheme that is more secure than passwording the screensaver. Any suggestions?

Actually I ment a firewall...

But now I installed ZoneAlarm and it seems to work just fine, but grc san still find out my IP address...?

Is that a setup problem?

Sorry don't know about setting passwords on simple partitions...

Thanks ManuTOmanU

You can't hide your ip address, but you don't really need to since Zonealarm blocks access to your ports. When you tested your pc with grc, you should have seen each port tested as stealth. Is that what you got?

BigZ, see if your BIOS has a password feature. Just don't lose it if you turn it on.

If you are using NT, then that should be easy. Just make your login an
administrator, & your dad anything but, then give E:\ full control permissions for administrator, & either read only, or no permissions for everyone else.

The power on password should do it for you. The combo of that & the scrensaver is great, and the price can't be beat!!!
