Hi All!
I have a motherboard based on the Via Apollo Pro 133A Chipset (MSI MS-6309), and I am curious about discovering the best overall method for installing the Via 4 in 1 Drivers in order to receive the best performance and stability. For example, should the drivers be downloaded and installed separately before any other drivers such as the ones for the video card? Please voice any opinions and observances. Thanks everyone!

Normally the best way,is Clean install of OS,then the Via 4 in 1 drivers first, followed by DirectX then Video, sound card drivers.

The 4 in 1 should be the 1st thing you install once windows is up. The way I did it was to get all my drivers downloaded...(after installing a network card)...installed my cd-burner software (or u can use zip or whatever)...burned all the drivers...then formatted and reinstalled windows...then had all the drivers there so I could install them in order without needing to install my network card 1st and cause potential problems. Probably best to install in this order:For a really clean boot ... boot into DOS using a floppy, then:
- Use FDISK to create DOS partition on disk (!!this destroys existing data on disk!!)
- FORMAT C: /S to format disk (use /Q for quick format) (!!this destroys existing data on disk!!)
Install Windows
Install latest VIA 4in1 service pack
Install latest VIA USB filter driver (under all Windows 9x versions after Windows 95 OSR2 and above)
Install Microsoft VIA USB patch (on Windows 98 or 98SE)
Install latest DirectX and latest patches
Install latest video drivers
Add sound card and then install latest sound card drivers
Install latest HPT370 software (on the KT7-RAID and KT7A-RAID)
And other devices one by one, and Install their latest drivers, e.g. joystick, graphics tablet, etc
Install applications
Confirm the system is working and then tweak BIOS if required.

Hope that helps.
