Is theier a program that helps you adjust color settings for your LCD to get optimum color settings?

I've been playing around with my Nvidea Gforce 6800's color settings but I can't get them quite where I want them. My main problem is probably the Whites are to bright, and the Darks are to dark

any ideas?

im sorry, i wasnt really clear. I dont need anything to 'adjust' the colors, I'm looking for something like a high res graphic, or a program tool where you it lets you see where you need to adjust it so you can get the optimum display for the monitor.

I don't know really how else to explain it. does someone know what im talking about/do these types of things even exist

You could use some test images like these Link

Use a software like DisplayMate

AVIA home theater guide and Digital Video essentials are popular for calibrating home theaters.

You can look for Test patterns as well like these for grayscale calibration Link
