What is the best video editing software?

What is the best video editing software available? windows movie maker is sux, and price isnt really a problem. My friends and i are going to make a movie and we need something that's fairly easy and full of features. thanks.

Go with Studio 9 Plus. Easy to use, and has some really good features. Pretty cheap too.

If price isn't a problem then I'd recommend this $25,000 software they use at the place I intern at. It's got tons of features and if they use it at a TV channel you know that it's good.

Anyways, if what you're really trying to say is that you need a consumer-level product, then go with Pinnacle Studio 9. If you're willing to spend it, get Liquid Pro for like 600.

Buy a Mac if money isn't an issue. iMovie, Final Cut Express, and Final Cut Pro HD should match your skill level.

I use Studio 8 and 9 and I'm not too impressed. Sure they're easy to use, but they are so buggy upon initial release. They're a prime example of a company that releases products long before they're ready for release with promises for updates. Then they include all these extra features and tool kits that appear to be installed, until you click on them and it tells you that you have to buy an exansion kit. Then they retail for about $90, but you can sometimes find them for about $10 after misc. rebates, which really devalues it in the consumers mind.

Also, I get some bad sync problems sometimes.

That being said, only other program I used was premiere years ago and that was even worse about bugs. At least premiere doesn't randomly crash (most of the time).

Avid, and Final Cut are really the best programs out thier right now, with Premier comming in a close 3rd in the lowend segment

Thats what I use. Greatest editing software ever. Beware though, its a steep learning curve and not cheap.

a mac with final cut pro is kinda considered industry standard. Avid is also acceptable (i hear it's interface is very usable if you know finalcutpro already).

adobe premier pro isn't a bad choice, but it's not as good.

try vegas video, very powerful for the basic editing and easy to work with without being too idiot proof

umm no.....what changed a few years ago is final cut pro came out which furtur stregthend the mac as a video editing machien. granted once you get into the true highend (15K+ that the pc starts to be more competetive with avids ofering but in the software only market final is the best.

I use final cut daily at work. and don't even bring up liquid edition while nice it is no where near the level of a properly configured FCP station
