What is the best video card that k6-2 333mhz can handle?

i was working on my friends computer since he got a DVD player on it.

after that we linked it up on a hub and fired up Good Old counter strike... DAMN it was slow!!!

i found out that he had Ragepro video card on it....

he does have an agp port on his m/b. what do you guys think is the limit of video card that his computer will get good boost in performance with?

i know that most of ANY video cards will give him the boost he needs, im thinking about Geforce mx200 or 400 at the most since his cpu is only K6-2 333mhz.

there is no such thing as your comp wont handle your card

the worst case scenario is for not so good cards like a viper2, you wont get many benefits as it relies too much on your processor. however, definitely for geforcemxs ya should be fine for whichever ya get and itll be a HUGE performance boost, well worth it!

If it were me, I'd get something universally compatible for that motherboard like a voodoo3 2000 or something else cheap and use that.

then, when he upgrades in the future, he can get a geforce or radeon when he gets a new computerl

I would agree on getting a voodoo based card. Depending on what chipset is on that board, you may have loads of compatibility woes with a Nvidia card. My daughters computer is a fic503 with a voodoo3 3000 and it runs fairly decent.

Another vote for a Voodoo 3.

Another vote for the Voodoo3, it reslies very little on processor speed, less so then the GF2 MX does so it won't be hurt much by running on a mere K6-2 333MHz. The Voodoo3 was one of the few cards that never had any real issues at all with reliability on the Socket7 platform. Plus it should rpovide all the performance you'll really need for CounterStrike.
