I am thinking about getting a new video card for my computer and can only spend upto $125. It will be used for gaming (mainly SOF2 and Medal of Honor). I dont have the have all of settings maxed and running superhigh resolutions. What chipset is the best for gaming, ATI or Nvidia??

Thanks for any help

X-Bit labs This is a comprehensive review of mid-range cards, check the overclocked 5700LE results out :Q You can snag one of those for 100 bucks, and if they're as good as that review showed... wow :) Good luck.

My first recommendation would be a used Radeon 9700, 9700 Pro, or 9800 for around $125.

My second would be a used 9600P, 9500P, or 9600XT for ~$100.

My third would be a new 9600P for ~$125.

Seems a bit biased there. Yah for the most part ATI's solutions are faster than Nvidias, but IIRC both of those games are OpenGL games which run beter on Nvidia hardware. Also yes ATI crushes Nvidia (not the new gen cards so much), but Nvidia still plays them well. I would recommend 5700 series of cards along with the 9600 series. The 9700 pro if you can afford it. But the 9800Pro or SE might be a bit too expensive.

it anywhere. I am just gettin back into building and upgrading computers :p

stay away from 9600se what ever you do, 64bit memory interface severly cripples performance in pretty much all games.........if u wanna game then 128bit is the least really

and for 125 dollars a 64 bit card is a complete rip off

i am not sure if that is the 5700u or 5700le or 5700nu, I don't know a heck of a lot about the 5700, but i would hold off a little before buying for someone who knows about them can check it out.
