I am building a IDE raid server(Abit VP6) & a IDE raid workstation(Abit BX133) and I want the option to install Linux on either but I am having trouble deciding on a compatible video card. I need a video card with good Linux drivers and at least average 3d performance. I decided on the Matrox G450 for good 2D and solid Linux driver support. I would like the best of both worlds in 2D and 3D. I know the Matrox 450 is a terrible 3D performer so I am a little hesitant to make the decision. Can you make a suggestion for an all around card that supports Linux/Windows 2000/Windows 98 SE? The dual head option is an atttractive feature. I was planning to go with two 17" monitors(Viewsonic EF70 or Liyama i70a),2 KVM switch boxes(for the option to use dual monitors on both the server and the workstation), and the g450's but if the performance is too bad I will opt for one good 19" monitor(Samsung 900NF or Sony G400) and a solid 3d video card that has both Linux and Windows 2000 support. I have never used Linux so I am a little uninformed on this subject.
