What is the best upgrade for this sytem?

I have the following system:

Epox 9npa Ultra socket motherboard
AMD Athlon 3700+
1024MB Crucial Ballistix
Evga Geforce 7800GT

The maximum I am willing to spend is around $250. I have an oldish 19" CRT monitor also. I do not game that much, but a little bit of BF2 sometimes, RON, RTCW etc. I might check out Crysis however. So I think the 7800GT will be fine for now. Do you agree?

Now that the AMD X2 processors are much lower priced, they are looking very tempting right now. But I am satisfied with my processor's speed to be honest. It does its job just fine. How about adding another gig of RAM? Should I replace this RAM with 2GB?

Or should I get a new LCD monitor? Help me out a bit 😀

I voted to get an LCD. You've got the same specs I do except you have a faster graphics card. I ditched my 17" CRT last year and bought a 20" widescreen. WOW! What a difference. Just think of all the desk space you'll get back. Not to mention the computer desktop space that will be created by going to 1680x1050. IMHO, the 20" widescreen LCD was the best computer-related investment I made.

I don't think you'll see any performance increase by upgrading the computer you already have.
