NEVER EVER buy AverMedia it's CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!

The Pinnacle one has Win2k support (and is very cheap) which I like and can capture at quite high res (ofcourse depending on comp but compared to AverMedia and others it rocks at that)

Btw is the Voodoo one stand alone?

(edit) The ATI TV-Tuners have always spanked everything else... They are really really good... but they are not stand alone and their drivers are not always the best. They capture video at an incredible rez for their price... this is because they use their own compression though.(/edit)

Yeah the Voodoo thingy is a stand alone card, the only problem with it is that it doesnt have TV-Out. Just look for reviews on it.

Pinnacle WILL not help me with my TV card.
While I WAS very happy with it, now that it won't work with my NVIDIA card, they will not even take my phone calls.

Hauppauge WinTV. Their cards are great quality and very stable. I used to have a Pinnacle PCTV, but it locked up my pc so much. I would definately recommend any hauppauge card.

What do you mean the ATI TV Wonder card is not stand-alone? It's a PCI card that you just install like any other...so I thought.

ATi TV Wonder is a stand alone TV card. No Win2k support at this time, I don't think.

ATi TV-Wonder
I got it for $110 Canadian at a retail store
It has Coax/RCA/SVideo input
It's a standalone PCI card
it can do video captures driectly to MPEG format
The quality on it is very good for both Cable input and RCA input from my playstation. (i have no SVideo sources so I haven't tried that one)
You can use internal or external attachment to your video card.
It's small fits in any case :) it's not much longer than the PCI slot is.
I've found it to be very very good.
And just recently they've finally released Win2000 beta drivers, I'm installing Win2k on my system in a few days so I'll let you know how that works out ;) I've heard some good and some bad.

For those of you who have a tv tuner card and love it, do you run a cable line to your tv tuner card or do you use an antenna? I've gone through so many tv tuner cards, all of which you have mentioned and I always get really bad framerates and static.
