I gotta say, I like some of TB's films, but I don't think there's a more overrated filmmaker in the world. A lot of these movies are mediocre or even poor IMO, and if there's a dumber POS than Planet of the Apes, I haven't seen it. I literally don't think there's a worse movie than that.

2nd most overrated, Kevin Smith is #1. He has not done anything really good since Clerks, but his current crap gets a free pass because he got it right once.

As for Burton, the best film he ever did was the one he didn't do. He gets all the credit for Nightmare Before Christmas and yet didn't even direct it. Too bad as it's better than the flicks he really made.

Who Directed Monkey Bone??

Henry Selick...also did James and the Giant Peach and Nightmare Before Christmas

Yep, everyone was tricked into thinking Burton directed Monkeybone because the ads depicted "From the director of Nightmare Before Christmas". To the uninitiated, that would be Tim Burton as it's called "Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas".. it really pissed me off 😉 Even local radio stations who were giving tickets away to that flop touted it as Monkeybone, directed by Tim Burton!

Mars Attacks. Yes the movie sucks donkeys balls, but it is such a deep movie that I have not figured out why yet.

My vote is for Big Fish. I loved that movie... Batman was great as well, and deserves praise, but Big Fish... Man, there's something about that movie that just hits me hard in every emotional crevice

It was a toss up for me between Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands. How this movie doesn't win is beyond me. Such a great movie, both of them actually.

I chose Edward. It was between that and Batman, and it was tough.

edit: I have to add that Batman is probably my all-time favorite film, but there was a lot of direction for that story prior to Burton directing the film. On the other hand, Joel Schumaker (?) really fvcked it up. I see Edward Scissorhands more of a creation of Burton.

Tim Burton is awesome.

Heh. Enjoyed Batman and Mars Attacks the most, though Edward Scissorhands was probably better than either.
