You and your gf/wife are walking back to your car and someone comes up to you with a gun and tells your girlfriend to get in the car and demands you give him your car keys. What is the best thing to do in this situation?

I'd tell him take my wallet and my car, but he's not taking my wife/gf.

As he starts the car maybe to slash a tire(two if you're fast enough), that is unless you can do something before she gets in the car

Has this happened to you before, or are you planning an attack on a friend in the near future?

Never go off with somebody in a situation like that. I recall reading in fact that those who do listen to a gunman and go off, instead of saying "screw this", and run away, are more likely to end up dead than those who say screw off and just bolt. The reason is that if he's going to kill them, he'll be more comfortable doing it in whatever private recluse he chooses, instead of broad daylight/public street at night. It's highly unlikely that he would kill somebody to show them who's boss if they run, vs. kidnapping them and letting them go later.

Wife says here's the keys, take the car and go. That's all you're getting - take it or leave it. If he's dumb enough to committ armed robbery, he probably wasn't smart enough to take some target practice.

I was thinking the best thing to do is tell my girlfriend to run and yell at the top of her lungs while I stood there and told the gunman that I'll give him my wallet and everything I got, but there is no way in hell he is taking my fiance and if he wants to shoot me then he might as well. I wouldn't be able to sleep/eat live with myself if he took off with her.

everyone just started thinking the thief is a guy. funny.

but a gun... i'd just throw the thief the keys and that's it. if you want my gf/wife you'd have to shoot me...

you should always carry a knife with you

then when he turns around stab him in the neck and grap his gun... then shoot him... several times

Totally different situation, but me and four couples are sitting here and we are all discussing things like this and we all have different suggestions.

However, when we told the girls they should never open the door to a stranger even if they say they are there to repair the cable they don't understand why. They go "why not it's just the cable guy". Did these girls parents never teach them anything at the age of 5 about being safe?

You guys should talk to your girlfriends about things like this to see if they know what to do. Seems like the majority of them, not all but most of them are too concerned with other things in life.

it should be understood that you just drop anything you have and RUN.

what the person said about going with them and more likely ending up dead is absolutely true. They had some safety thing on campus one day.

They say the likelyhood of a person being able to shoot you even in broad daylight while you're running isn't all that good and at night it's even less likely, obviously there's still the risk, but you're better off.

Same goes if you're in a store - don't let them take you to the back, no matter what. Run for the door, or bang on a window, try to get the attention of someone outside. Hit the panic button on your car's key-fob, if you can.

Put down your laundry and .... oh sorry, different thread...

If she gets in the car she is dead. If she doesn't get in the car, she might be dead. I wouldnt get in the car. I would offer the property and refuse to get in the car...

:)

Actually I have three cars in my name :) You follow up my life pretty well, maybe you should read my other threads to see why I have so many in my name since you love to know about Aimster.
