What is the best soundcard for gaming and mp3's for W2k?

And don't recommend one of the Live series, I have one and it sucks! I get clicks and pops and I've done everything under the sun to fix it. I have concluded it's in the drivers but from the looks of it Creative isn't going to release any new ones.

DO any other cards have A3D and EAX in them and have digital and all that?

The TB Sant Cruz is an awesome card. They have nice Win2k driver too. It does have A3D and EAX. It also has digital out.

The AOPen AW744pro (yamaha based chipset) has an optical out right on board, which bypasses the DAC in the card and uses the DAC in your receiver that you hook it up to. This is how I have mine set up and I LOVE it.

get the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, it seems to be the best board for Win2K, definitely stay away from the SB Live! cards, they have poor Windows 2000 driver support and most people are having problems with them (including myself), especially when you put them with a VIA chipset.

The Santa Cruz is an excellent card. And the Win2k drivers are flawless.

Sorry elasmobreath, I haven't used the SPDIF.

Yes! I am using the TB Santa Cruz connected to my Denon AVR-2700 Dolby Digital system. It was breeze to set up and sounds absolutely marvelous. I was relaly pleased with the difference, so much so that I am goign to buy a new CD-Changer with digital out to go into the receiver. I highly recommend this setup!
