My vote goes to The Rising.

I didn't include Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue because it's obviously not the best.

well, the weirdest musical thing regarding 9-11 was the release of Dream Theater's "Live Scenes From New York" that day. I went to bed on 9-10 looking forward to that cd, with the imagery of the cover in mind. The cover, which was pulled from stores immediately following 9-11, was a picture of the NYC skyline in flames and wrapped in barbedwire.

Funny how a band called "Dream Theater" released a cd so amazingly in parallel with the times, given their claim to fame is "timing".

I'll say "Hole in the World" but then, I'm an Eagles fan - what can I say? Some of the other songs were good, too (and some I haven't heard). The radio stations around here played "New York Minute" quite a bit in the time following 9/11, too.

saving it for 10 years in hopes that people will buy it for $$$$?

I know what my LEAST favorite song is: "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue" by Toby Keith

If there's ever a WRONG way to respond to 9/11, that's it.

I'm of the opposite opinion...

I like that song and This Ain't No Rag, It's A Flag by the Charlie Daniels Band.

Nothing wrong with blowing off steam and anger.

Better than cowering like a pussy.

Some lucky people somewhere have a very, very valuable copy of an album.

Capitalizing on tragedy is fun.

Are you telling me that an artist, no matter how successful, or popular, can't write a song about an event that touched the lives of nearly every single American (and many others around the world) without being accused of capitalizing on it for personal gain?

I think all of those songs are tacky, but I imagine they were written with honorable intentions.

I'd be inclined to share your opinion if we actually put a boot in the ass of the terrorists, but instead our boots are bogged down in the slime of Iraq's insurgents, and they're not going in any asses as they should be.

Nothing wrong with blowing off steam and anger, but a reflective look back at the lives lost and the perspective gained is much more tasteful, IMHO.

Bah, you can have both.

And to say we haven't caused serious damage to terrorist orgs is to be dishonest.

The nice thing about Iraq is every two bit terrorist org is sending people there, instead of here. Better there than here.

According to many, Al-Queda no longer exists as an opperational group, but rather as an idea.
