What is the best software dvd decoder?

Currently I'm using powerdvd 3.0 and I'm pretty impressed. I enjoy the 5.1 playback via my GTXP (which is the only thing I like about the GTXP) Is there any other software player that might have even better picture quality? Or maybe I just don't have the settings tuned right. Movies seem to be very dark when I play them. Should I tell it to manually switch the resolution when played?

Darkness is contrast or gama, that doesn't deal with resolution?

I have used them all at one time or another. Right now I am using powerDVD and I am happy with it.

my contrast is all the way up, and i tried turning my gamma up, but it doesn't affect the movie itself AT ALL.

Cinemaster made by Ravisent is also a nice software dvd application. I prefer it over powerDVD for sure.
