Do you mean Indoor or Out Door?

Do you mean with line of Sight or without Line of Sight?

Do you mean with walls or without Wall?

Do you mean with big Fish Aquarium in the room?

Do you mean with Microwave oven ruing and 2.4GHz Phone Talking?

Do you mean in High Humidity area or in dry Desert like climate?

Do you mean with External Directional Antenna?

So: 10 to 60 feet indoor 50 to 150 feet out door.

However one guy did a special project for school and achieved 5 Miles range.

I said PCI in my title? I mean wireless, 802.11b, for home use.

PCI Wireless? Not so good for regular Home!

Why?

Wireless is depending on signal propagation.

PCI Wireless Client Card ends up been stuck behind the computer's case, resultant in obstructed transmission and poor performance. USB is connected to the Port with 2-3' cable allowing the Antenna to be placed above the System for better Transmission.

However a PCI card is a good choice when a powerful external Antenna is needed for long distance. Many Wireless PCI cards come with a removable Antenna.

The distance is about 10' - 60'. Totally dependent on your own personal envioroment.
