What is the best processor I can get for the EP-8K3A/+ MOBO?

I currently have an athalon 950 and I'd like to max out the mobo.

I'm wondering whats the best processor that I should put in it right now. My manual suggests that the XP 2000+ is the max. I'm assuming then that a 2100 + and above won't work? I just want to make sure before I buy. I don't think price is an object w/ this since all my options look to be under $70 bucs.

I also have 256 memory.. and I think it's pc2100. I'd like to take it to 512... should I remove the 256 and get two 256 pc2700.. or should I just get another pc2100. Will it be a major difference?

Thanx in advance!

Take a look at Epox's CPU support list HERE. It's in Adobe and if I am reading that right it says you can go up to an 2600+/333FSB, but that would need faster RAM then what you have. You could prob still find a 2600+ with a 266FSB so that you can still use your existing RAM. Or on the cheaper side the 2400+ is around $100.

You can keep the stick of RAM you have an just add another 256MB stick. Take a look at the brand and the numbers on the old stick, you should be able to look up what speed it is from the manufactures web site. You don't really need the faster RAM unless your overclocking or plan on getting the 333FSB CPU.

I'd give EPOX's tech support a call or an email just to verify what that list says so you don't fork over money for a CPU that you might not be able to use.
