is it this place? i cannot reach it if it is..

even so, do they deliver to Canada?? I need Someone that will sell a K6-3+ 450 for $50-$60 American (close to $70 Canadian).

I have found a few other sites in the states (via Pricewatch) that sell it also, one sells it for $72 American, and delivers to Canada, the other two (AxionTech, and Software and Stuff) have it for better prices, but don't mention anything about delivering to Canada (thus I don't think they will deliver).

I didn't know where else to post this, I tried asking in another forum (Hot Deals), but my thread got locked.. perhaps this should go into For Sale/Trade? the problem is, it's not quite asking if someone has it, it's about the websites...

I got mine from tigerdirect for $50 US. The site seems to be down. I don't know what the deal is for Canada. BTW, nice upgrade for an older system. I put one on my kids PC. It's an old ASUS HX mobo that had an MMX 233. It has 128 meg EDO and a V3 3000 PCI. I didn't want to buy a whole new system, since it really is fine for the kids. What a difference that chip made! I can actually play UT on it now! I have 3 PC's in the house on a LAN. Heh, me and Mrs Oldfart were playing UT for a couple of hrs the other night. What a hoot! Of couse, she played on my PIII 933-256 meg ram-Radeon 64-Mitsu 900U PC, and I used the other one. Was a blast!

well my specs currently include a K6-2 400.. I want this CPU, so I can max out this motherboard, and use the K6-2 400 on another computer that just needs a new motherboard.

then I'll think about Durons, T-Birds, Sledgehammers etc..

it's nice staying a step behind (in this case, 2 or so). my upgrade path is clear.

What kind of mobo? I'm sure you've seen the poop on this setup. You need 2.0-2.1Vcore. I can't really max out the chip on that old HX. I have it running 6 x 75 = 450. I hear it will do 600+ if you have a 100FSB.

ahh. I'm running an ASUS P5A. it supports the Voltage (down to 2 V) and has a 2x multiplier, all the way to 5.5x.

yes I know pretty much all there is to know about the K6-3+. It probably won't be recognized properly on this board, but it will (or should) run perfectly fine. I will probably overclock it as high as it will go at default voltage, no more. I have an FOP-32 on my K6-2 400 currently.

Yeah, mine is an Asus P/I-P55T2P4. The bios doesn't properly identify the chip. But it works perfectly. Gotta love ASUS. Name another HX board that will run this new a chip. I think you will be in the same boat. 450 @ 6 x 75. You can go 6 x 83, but I dont like the 41 MHz PCI. There is another bonus with this chip. That P5A is an Intel TX chipset right? That had the Intel 64 meg cacheable ram limitation. Since the L2 is now onboard the K63+, you can use as much ram as you want without the performance hit.

Hmm, My parents have an old tyan s1572 -2 w/233mmx. Im actually using it right now. A 500mhz k6III would be a perfect upgrade. Tyan and my manual suggest that it wouldnt work. Though I am looking through the manual and I can choose a 2.0 v cpu voltage. My only worry is that I remember hearing that the super 7 boards similar to the p2'3's have 2 different voltages for the core. I dont want to buy a 50 dollar cpu and either fry it or my parents setup. In addition my motherboard's highest multiplyer is 3.5.

actually the P5A is an Ali Aladdin V chipset. super 7 in other words.

I'm probably going to get about 550mhz out of that chip, but if I can get up to 600, I'll be using that good ole 2x multiplier. if I can STILL go higher, then I'll start FSB overclocking. (only problem is one of my memory sticks is rated at 100mhz).

Cknyc, don't worry about the dual voltage thing. all CPU's take the same second voltage (I dont' remember if it's the I/O voltage or what). the one you want to change is the one that has the most options. in fact, on most motherbaords don't let you change the second voltage option, becuase there really isn't any reason to do so yet.

so you shouldn't have to worry about frying the chip.

as for the CPU multiplier, if you have 2x, the K6-2 CXT CPU's remap that to 6x, so if you run at 66mhz FSB, and you put the multiplier to 2x, you get 400mhz (6x66). with a bit of FSB overclocking you can get it to 450, or (6x75mhz).
