My brother needs to get a new cell phone and is really excited about the Treo 600. Is this "the one" or is there a better one... Alternatively, is it worth waiting for another year to get an even better one?

i really want one.

has he had a chance to play around with one at the store? the thumb keyboard is pretty cramped. if he's got big fingers he might have trouble touch typing.

the Motorola smartphone is supposed to be pretty neat, too.

The best thing about the Treo 600 is its input system. You practically can leave the stylus in the silo for pretty much everything. Both the d-pad and thumbboard are BIG winners. However, the screen is low-res (160x160) , has only 12 bit (or was it 11 bit?) color and quite a bit of ghosting is visible... Also it does not have Bluetooh. If you can get over both problem I'd say go ahead.

I personally don't consider the Smartphone a real PDA since it only has a number keypad. Plus it is definitely a first-gen product, it's wise to wait for it to mature a bit.

I've never like a pda/phone in one just because if one has a problem, so does the other. If they are seperate, then if one has a problem of any type like batteries, it was dropped, etc. then at least one will likely work.

The Treo 600 is awesome, I want one aswell. It has a nice dialer touch screen, organizer, email, digi cam, and its nicely designed. Its worth the money if he can afford it.

I think bluetooth is less of an issue for the Treo 600 since it has a built in phone for the data aspect.

I had a Kyocera 7135 for a VERY short while. I'm much happier with my Treo 300. 600 looks awesome, but Can't afford it at the moment. I had the Kyocera 6135 for about 2.5 years though. Great phone, just no Sprint PCS vision!

I've had my Samsung I300 for two years now. I love it, but I must admit that I use less than half of its capabilities. I too would like to upgrade to the Treo 600, but the price is quite prohibitive right now (the wife gave me the I300 for Christmas way back when). I'm not to concerned about SprintPCS Vision nor do I require a camera built into the phone. Just a solid PDA and phone in one unit will be fine by me.
