I got some group projects to do at school, and im sick of people emailing me asking for files, updates, resends, etc..

Whats a good online collab. tool that can let me post files, data, etc...

Other than basecamp, what would you recommend?

Just find some free forum site. Used to be something like EZBoard.com or something like that where you can just log in and post stuff.

ATOT, just start a forum thread about whatever you want right here and link to google docs and images. You'd be all set.

It really depends on what your objectives are. While I would agree that google docs / etc is easy, it is not an all encompassing system. Understand first what the requirements are and who is using the tool. If you have several different needs than the above mentioned could meet only some of them. What you get then is several tools, integrated, to meet your need when there could be a single tool out there for you.

It's all about requirements.

I need like an open forum, like a wiki. anyone in the group can edit it, but also be able to post links, files etc.

I dont mind hosting or setup, but i just dont want it to be difficult

its a short 8 week project.
