Just curious. I've always used a Realtek based network card, they're cheap and have seemed to work fine.
But i'm just wondering if anyone here knows of a reason to switch to say a 3COM or an INTEL network card.
Are any of them faster or have better buffers???
Any comments would be appreciated :)

For use with a cable modem? Not really. The bandwidth of the modem is nowhere near even 10 megabits, let alone the 100 almost all cards will run at today so things like buffering or speed are trivial as the net connection is the biggest bottleneck. Other stuff I can think of is the better known cards may have better driver support in less-popular OS's, or if you want to be able to boot off the NIC (inexpensive cards don't usually support that), but if you don't need any of that, it really doesn't matter.
