Just got installed a 63 inch Plasma, Bose Surround, and Blu Ray player. When my friends come over I want to impress them with the audio and video. What is the best Blu Ray movie to show off the detail and surround sound?

I'm waiting for someone to knock the Bose :p.

Expensive, not the best, but they still sound great.

They sound ok.

Really Bose has no business making consumer level audio products because they are all completely outclassed for much less money.

They make great PA and Loud Speakers though - PROVIDED - you use their crossover and equalizer... otherwise they sound very hollow and tinny.

Congrats on the new set up though (Didn't mean to put you down based on components).

I would definitely advocate Band of Brothers, (I have heard good things about) Planet Earth, any of the Pixar Movies, and I am sure Dark Night will look fantastic.

How about Privates of the Caribbean instead?

Also good. Might show the colors off better, since Fist is just like the original - black and white with just a dash of red.

Any porno will do. At 1080p and with DTS sound you should be able to see and hear the crushed childhood dreams.

I hated that movie too.

Is The Patriot available on Blue Ray? I used to use that to demo HT setups. People would actually be ducking cannonballs.

Band of Brothers is going to be an amazing example of surround sound use. Your will definitely enjoy the use of the LFE and surrounds throughout the entire miniseries. However, it's not a terrific way to showcase the plasma. The greater black levels will definitely be used (I've been watching it on an LCD. I hate LCD black levels, so much lost), but the miniseries is not a terrific example of colors. Mind you, it looks amazing in HD, but there are better showcases for color fidelity.

My suggestions for video: The Fountain is amazing for video, so many colors and the visuals themselves are just beautiful. Little more lackluster in the sound department though, and the movie itself will not be one everyone enjoys. I loved it, but everyone is different.
Any Pixar movie, or the Ice Age movies. They look brilliant, and the Pixar movies all have great sound that will definitely provide an example of great panning across the speakers.
2001: A Space Odyssey: looks terrific for being an old movie. Hell, at some points its difficult to really say its an old movie, it just amazing.
Batman Begins: Just looks and sounds awesome. 'Nuff said.
Pirates of the Caribbean movies: look great and have great sound use.
Spiderman movies: same as above. SM3 has some GREAT use of surrounds. The whole flying between buildings thing lends to some amazing use of surrounds and the panning of the soundfield.
Transformers: the LFE will get an awesome workout here, and onscreen it looks awesome. There is hardly a scene in this movie that couldn't be demo material. And, you get a hot girl.
