What is the best motherboard for an old AMDXp 1600?

If you search other topics I am trying to find out what happened to my kudo z7 and suddenly I can't do anything in my PC.
So now I am trying to locate the best solution to save my CPU.
Any good ideas and indications?
Thanks...
D.

To start with, the word "best" is once again a terrible choice to use in the context your subject line was set in. There never was any single "BEST" motherboard for any processor. There were millions of conflicting opinions, but never any agreement. If you want to refine your selection criteria and choose words that offer OBJECTIVE rating options, then the thread will be more useful to you.

Do you want a PC for youths to do homework on, an internet surfing box for Mom & Dad, a business PC to write up reports with, what is it this poor little CPU is going to try to do? That sort of data will be a good start. I never heard of a "kudu" motherboard, so I couldn'y know what kind of RAM it used. That will make a difference also, if you hope to move the RAM as well as the cpu.

Abit NF7-S was the best IMO. If I were you I'd just get a new processor too, that 1600's probably showing it's age.
