I am new here, my brother introduced me to the sight, he is the tech guy. I am a huge gamer. I have been playing since I had my PC jr and played Kings Quest 1. I am thinking of building a system for gaming, but I lack the knowledge of mother boards and processors. What I am looking for is a Stable motherboard that will run games with intense graphics and that is stable. I am looking at buying a Geforce 3 TI 500 to go with this new system. So to wrap it all up.

I need advice on on what motherboard combined with what processor will run the ti 500 with the new games out like Medal of Honor, GHost Recon, and Empire Earth to where I can crank up the graphics and still run stable. Right now I am running an ASUS 440BX P3B-F with a PIII 750.

for a hardcore gaming machine i would pick a motherboard with the via kt266a chipset...
if you want raid and high quality onboard sound, and also onboard LAN i would go with the soyo dragon+ motherboard link.... if you dont need/want that stuff then maybe the epox 8kha+ link, the soltek board based on the same chipset is also very good.

for the cpu i would get an athlonxp anywhere from 1700+ to 2000+ depending on the budget

edited to add some links

I agree for the most part with Boonesmi. Except, in a few weeks, nForce 415-D boards should start hitting the streets and they will feature audio just as good as the Sound Blaster Audigy (in other words better than the audio that's on the Dragon+) and will have a NIC as well. But, I 2nd him that if u don't need the goodies (but I take it you will be buying a new Sound card/NIC right?), take 8KHA+.

Wait for the nForce 415-D chipset boards to come out or get a 420-D based board. They are faster than the KT266A boards (I don't care what the reviews say my own beches prove this fact), and they are more stable (no 4in1's).

Epox 8KHA+ prob not the best but right up in the top 3 along with a XP1600 or higher and you are in the fast lane.
