What is the best micro atx mb for amd? I need 1 agp slot, or good build in graphics (like nforce). I only need 1 pci if it has built in audio, other wise I would need 2 pci.

It is EXTREMELY difficult to find a micro ATX board with a good built in graphics card, well at least if you are referring to 3D gaming ability. I have just been shopping around for one and ended up just looking for one with an AGP slot so I can use my own graphics card. Most mATX boards have 2/3 PCI slots and an AMR, not all have an AGP though.

Wait for Abit NV7m. It uses nForce, which has built in GeForce 2 MX graphics, and this particular board is micro ATX, and to top it off has 3 PCi and 1 AGP.

EDIT: About the MSi KM133A board, it'll probably be fine. I have a KM133, and Savage4 is the best 3D performance wise integrated video before nForce.

I did actually look at that board myself. It was more expensive than most mATX though and did not have onboard LAN (which was another checklist item for me). The graphics on that board is better than some though. I went with the PC Chips 810LMR for myself, as it had onboard LAN, 4 channel sound, 2 PCI, 1 AGP, AMR slot + 56K modem included and it was recommended to me by several people who all said it was a great value all-in-one. Plus it was among the cheapest. PC Chips is the same company as ECS.

I haven't built it yet. Will be using a Duron 800 and a GF2 MX400, wrapped up in a tiny mATX case and installed in my living room as an mp3/divx/internet system using the TV for output.

do you think an 800 duron would be good enough for games? what kind of cooling do you need on an 800 duron?

OK so we have the same goal then...yes I want to play the odd game on mine too, which is why I chose the GF2 MX400 to go with it (also as it has TV Out). Should be fine for 640x480 gaming. The Duron will be fine for games - even a 600 would probably do, I was keeping my eye on the power required for Divx playback too. Cooling required is minimal. I picked up an "Akasa" cooler which was fairly low-profile and QUIET (its going to be in my living room after all) but it is rated up to 1.4Ghz would you believe. Its looks a little like a Taisol.

do have a link for that hsf? i think i found the case i am going to use Text. it can be used like a tower or a desktop, and its pretty small. the reason i think i want this case is, i have a creative video blaster digital vcr card that is full height. that case used micro atx motherboards, but allows for full height pci and agp cards.

here is another link to that case Text

Freaky that case looks IDENTICAL to the one I have ordered! Only mine is made by Yeong Yang, look here. It's a great case. If you look at the white one lying on its side you can see that you can use a solid plate instead of the floppy plate thus making it just a neat little box.

As for the cooler, well I don't know what the offical website is but I got it here, click the info link for the "Icicle 765" (third one).

From Kustom PC. You can probably get it much cheaper than I from the US, I am in the UK. It came with a 160W mATX PSU.

Chaintech's 7SID. It's an mATX form factor, built around the splendid SiS 735 chipset. Rock solid and highly reliable. About $75 from any number of vendors.

Well. price only you can decide about the NV7m but I think that it does have LAN. Go to Abit's specs for NV7m. See at the bottom it lists a Realtek Ethernet controller? So, it's your choice. Truthfully, I don't see why it wouldn't be in your price range if you're getting a GF2 MX. Anyway, a Duron 800 should push a GF2 series to the max and be plenty for your purposes. About the PCChips 810LMR. One forum member has praised it greatly (Peter), and he basically says that as long as you have good experience with building PC's it's a good board. In other words, it does take a tad work to get it all setup but once it is, it works great. So, good luck guys. I really though would consider if all possible nForce. It is great, and if you're getting an MX, I just can't believe that it will cost more.

I'd have to second the Chaintech 7SID mATX board (based on SIS735). I have one running perfectly fine in a nice YY lan box. ;) However, the only thing bad about it is that the manual is sparse. :(

MCS: Any chance of taking some pics of the inside of that case? The ones I found on those web sites don't show much.
