What is the best method for cleaning a pen mark from a LCD screen?

I was having a discussion with my boss where we were digesting figures in a spreadsheet. Then he decided that he would point his pen to a figure "like I couldn't see it" and he touched the screen with his pen. I cannot for the life of me understand why ppl do that. Jeez that goes down as another pet hate, almost as annoying as ppl who drop litter...

Anyway, what do I use?

Thanks

;)

I would try water first. If that doesn't do it, then I'd try rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, then maybe a glass cleaner solution like Windex...

Whiteout.

Okay, maybe not. Try water and then a really dilute water/soap mixture.

and yes, water, and turn off the screen, don't scrub, don't push, just wipe with a soft cloth...

I'd rather people would point with pens, I hate it when I have !@~*%#'ing finger prints on my monitor. I'd suggest plain white vinegar if water doesn't seem to work.

I know from experience Ethyl Acetate works, but I'm not sure how you'll get some.
I think alcohol would do, though.

I've heard of alcohol-based cleaning, ammonia-based cleaning, water-based, but never, EVER using an organic solvent. How did you ever decide to use organic solvent on an LCD panel?

Spray it on, and while it's still wet rub it with a paper towel (or a microfiber towel, even better). The ink will come right off. A damp towel can remove any left over hairspray.

This happened to me at work many times... Some idiot PHM would stick his pen (ballpoint, permanent, white board, whatever) into my screen to show me just how moronic he really was. I ended up going to the 99c store and buying a can of hair spray just to keep in my desk.

DO NOT USE WINDEX or any other amonia-based cleaning solution. It will damage and/or remove the monitor's anti-glare/UV coating.
