I used to use IDT which was $0.05 a minute all the time at $3 a month fee. Is there anything better out now? We just moved and I think we have the standard Verizon thing...not sure my wife set up the account.

PS - Not talking cellular here.

if your wife talks that much, you can sign up for the Verizon Freedom package which gives you unlimited long-distance

Our bellsouth bill was about $200 this month.

That includes free long distance (domestic), DSL, and local phone service. The only extra is the international dialing. That was $120 of that $200 bill.

If it's all domestic, I'd look into one of the unlimited domestic long distance calling plans. They range from $20-$30 month, at least the ones I've seen.

If it's international, get on the cheapest international calling plan you can. I cut my LD costs my 50% by shopping around for the best international rate.

what "LD" are we talking about? I am sure VOIP doesn't work if you call to other country.

Aah, I just checked that out, looks like exactly what we need. I would prefern to to use VOIP cause i am in an old house and the phoneline is far from the wireless router and it would be a hastle to run new line. Besides how can you beat $20/month unlimited for a regular landline-based service???

Thanks man!

This is an excellent suggestion, but I don't think Qwest is available in VT.

It IS available! But the online ordering is FUBAR'd so I'll have to call tomorrow. I'm thinkn I just saved an ASSLOAD of money.

I think that's what we have on our phone.... IIRC, it's about $40 or 50 a month.

You'll save a hell of a lot more if you dump the big mouth you're saddled with. Tell her to hang up the damn phone, get in the kitchen, and whip up a tasty meatloaf. And while the oven is doing its thing, grab a mop and do the floors. And have her bring you a beer while she's at it! Cojones, man! Cojones!!
