What is the BEST lcd panel and is it worth getting one at all?

What is, in your opinion, the absolute best LCD monitor available today? And, would you buy an LCD? Do you have one, are you satisfied with one? I've always liked the idea of an LCD but have been put off by the idea of dead pixels, and the price. These days however, prices are going down, and I'm wondering if it'd be worth getting a sweet flat panel. I know the really low end ones wouldn't be worth it, cause they're still pretty low quality (am I right or wrong on this?), but how about a midranged or high-end LCD? I'm almost willing to spend a lot on this, cause i'd love a nice looking, easy on the eyes display. I could live with a dual setup too, using the new LCD for certain things and keeping the ol' CRT for whatever I don't like on the LCD.

What do you think, and would you recommend an LCD? Which one? Are any 18-21" reasonably priced, or if not, are there any exceptional ones quality-wise? I'd like to hear your input on the matter. Thanks. 🙂

About a month and a half ago my 17 inch monitor did not turn on. I went to CompUSA and spent a hour comparing 19 inch CRT($250 to $350) and 15 inch LCD ($300 to $400) monitors. The CRT monitors were superior to the LCDs and cheaper too.

I tried hard to chose a LCD, because they are cool, but I could not justify it because of their lower value compared to a crt monitor.

im getting the 19" planar ct1904z in a couple days, it looks to be a great LCD. you should check it out.
