I currently use the 3Ware Escalade 6200 for RAID 1 in all of my RAID systems. I spent alot of time reading reviews that told me this is the best card out there. In the machines that I have built using the 6200, I have had no problems and the performance has been great. The only thing I don't like about it is that you have to load the operating system AFTER initializing the hard drives.
I am trying to compete with a quote a customer sent to me that includes an Adaptec 1200A 2-Channel ATA/100 7200RPM SE W/8MB Cache and 2 Western Digital 100GB 7200RPM Hard Drives with 8MB Cache. I will be happy to match the hard drives he is using, but I am inclined to use the 3Ware Escalade 6200. Can any of you think of a reason not to? Or of another IDE RAID card that is better?
Any help is appreciated.
