Put me in the small group that actually enjoyed The Ring...it scared the hell out of me for some reason (creepy kid syndrome maybe?). I just saw The Ring Two (terrible, not even remotely scary), it actually made the first one less scary somehow. I know the Exorcist will be a popular pick, while the story was good stuff, it didn't really scare me all that much.

The first time I saw The Exorcist I was 11 years old, probably too young, it scared the sh!t out of me. I had to watch it two more times throughout the next few years before it finally stopped scaring me.

None. I just don't get the point of wasting your money to scare the sh!t outta yourself in a movie theatre.

Probably Poltergeist when I was smaller. Other than that I've never seen a real good horror movie that I can think of.

EDIT: Forgot about the Evil Dead series.

Definitely "Event Horizon" Scariest movie I've seen in my lifetime, one of my favorites.

The Omen was good, as was the Exorcist. I liked Evil Dead although the scare factor was minimal - I just like the vintage feel it has to it. I enjoyed Blair Witch, although not for the scare factor. The Ring and The Grudge were both equally cool imho. The first Amityville movie was ok too.

my favorite horror movie is definitely Halloween. the first one is so classic to me and the music/sound in that movie is genius (especially for its time).

as far as scary movies, i would have to say that when i was a kid, pet semetary scared the crap out of me. nothing really scares me now a days, athough i still watch al most every horror movie that comes out.

Remake.

no kidding. well there's something to be said about *good* remakes. i hope they do a decent job of it. there aren't enough quality "haunted house" flicks out there. i don't think the idea has really ever been given justice. haunted houses are something that almost everyone can relate to - everyone has their little anecdotes and stories. well, around here anyway.

Dawn of the dead. Made me feel helpless. Especially the thought of waking up one morning to find the world is ending and the thought of having no place left to go or hide.

Oh and one vote for the made-for-TV series of Stephen King's "It". Wasn't particularly scary, but was very watchable imho.

My favorite of all time is Braindead (aka DeadAlive). It was directed by Peter Jackson long before he became famous for LoTR.

It's similar to Evil Dead in that it has a lot of comedy mixed in with ridiculous amounts of gore.
