i am looking for image quality, not speed. i have a geforce4 TI and windows 2k. i would like to play Deus Ex and UT in glide mode. Not for the FPS, but becuase it looks better, to me. Or are the GLIDE wrappers worse image quality than Open GL or Direct X?

thnx

No need to play UT in Gide. D3D looks better and OpenGL looks WAY better if you use the high res S3TC from CD #2. I posted how to set this up awhile ago. Here it id again:

1) Install the high res textures off UT CD #2. If you dont have it, there is no point going any further
2) Download the 436 OpenGLDrv.dll from the UTPG website
3) Unzip and install in the \UnrealTournament\System directory
4) Modify your UnrealTournament.ini file to look like this: These are my tweaked settings, they may not be optimal for your setup.

S3TC (or more specifically any form of texture compression) will pretty much work on any card around.

Under OpenGL S3TC is just a wrapper and vendors can map any texture compression routine they like to it.

/resists urge to smack the Stupid out of Schadenfroh for trying to neuter his gF4Ti with a Glidewrapper

The other APIs (OGL/D3D) were compiled into that engine for a reason. Use them along with OldFart's tweak guide above.

I think glide looks better on ut then either d3d or opengl. UT was designed for glide first.
I've never found a glide wrapper that looks good on UT though so good luck. Your best option is to get a voodoo2 sli and run 800 or 1024
also I play competitively so I have most of the pretty stuff turned off. Glide looks better under those settings to me. I'm sure with all the settings on so the game looks its prettiest d3d or opengl would end up looking better.

Have you tried OpenGL with the large textures? If you have there is no way you could possibly say that.

I've played UT in Glide, D3D and OpenGL. I still have a PC here with a Voodoo 3 in it. No way does it look best in Glide. Not even close.
