What is the Best Gaming Controller??

So I have my new rig's parts in the hands of FedEx.

I am set to kick some tail.

I need your help once again!

I need a gaming controller (preferably one for my left hand) that will work very well for World of Warcraft. After I hit 70, I'd like to PVP a bit, but I'm having difficulty finding a controller that has enough buttons (that I can program or that feel natural) for my character's needs.

What do you all suggest?

Looks like you do the same thing I do: gamepad in left, mouse in right.

Scary thing is, I loved Microsoft's sidewinder usb gamepad, but they discontinued that years ago. I've been using a logitech rumble pad, had two triggers, nice for attacks and secondary attacks, but I found it to get "dusty" quickly and become unresponsive unless you pop it open and clean the headers.

I basically use a gamepad for movement, and depend more on my mouse for alternative actions as well as looking/aiming. I have a razer copperhead and bind a lot of stuff to the alt buttons. I've never used the other buttons on the gamepad.

But to behonest, the gamepad market seems to have taken a dump IMHO. I have not been able to find one with good comfort, and decent size to fit solely in the left hand.

Its kind of a hard thing to find info out on, since everyone seems to believe that keyboard and mouse is the way to go.... Personally, I find this set up to be ancient.

The Belkin nostromo n52 is what I use for the only game I play (UT2004). I LOVE it - can't play without it.

It has programmable macros (which I don't use), and adjustable palm rest, a lifetime warranty (I've already worn out three and been sent free replacements), and costs about $30.

Highly recommended.

I highly recommend the standard US 101-key keyboard device.

WSAD + mouse should be all anyone ever needs. Infinitely better than any joystick controller.

I second. WSAD and 97 other buttons. What's not to love?

With a nostromo, you get WASD and the remainder of the keyboard keys (it's not used in lieu of your KB, it's in addition to it).

no macros...

with a specialized "controller" (I think you guys might be thinking controller in terms of consoles here) you can program any of the buttons on it to whatever you want - even have one key perform multiple keystrokes - and all within easy access of a single hand (usually designed for your left as your right is most likely using a mouse)

be careful with this.. if the controller can perform functions that the regular game macro language cannot you could get a banning.

They do look for commands being executed exactly the same in the same order with the same amount of time/latency between actions. Controller macros are too precise, and are easily detectable when auditing?

At least don?t abuse it?
