Some body please advice me. I have AMD Athlon (Slot A) and it's over heating. My case vent is pretty good. So I figured I need a new HS and fan. Which one is the best to buy that I will not lose a RAM slot. I was going to get ThermalTake Golden Orb but I heard that it's not good. Thanks

Currently I have an athlon 650C@750 1.65v, with a Giga-byte GA-71X.

I have a GlobalWin VOS32, and I idle at 41C, (38C@650).

It's a great sink if you don't mind the noise.

I'm going into watercooling though in a week or so.

EDIT: I think you have to make some minor mods to this heatsink for your mobo, I'm not sure. I think anand has an article on it, with a howto, either that or hardocp.. I forgot..

I used a Cooler Master DP2-5G52 on my Athlon Classic 700, which is AMD approved. I don't OC and the Cpu temp is usually 39C at idle. It's a single fan version and noise rated at 31db. I just ordered the Cooler Master DP2-5H54 from Directron for a 1ghz Classic that I'm using to replace the 700. It's the twin fan version of my current HSF and approved for the 1ghz.

I also have a Global Win FRK50 which is the single fan version of the VOS32. The heatsink is smaller but it uses the same fan. I used it once but it was alot noiser than the Cooler Master, so I keep it for a spare.
