What is the best electric grill I can buy?

beer

I want a grill that I can cook indoors with. Charcoal/gas are just not options, I live in high-density residential and in a dry climate at that, outdoor cooking is pretty much banned and even if it wasn't, I can't just store a grill on my balcony without hitting big fines.

I want an indoor grill that is big enough to cook an entire meal on. And I want the grill to be one that gets hot enough that I can cook stuff 1/2" thick at least and not burn the outside while still raw on the inside. Are Foremans really the best out there? I have a GE electric one right now and it just doesn't get hot enough - I can't even grill chicken well. There has to be a good design out ther. Cost isn't an issue, I dropped $100 on a toaster oven and I won't hesitate to do the same with a grill if I can use it for years.

Those of you that are going to say Foremans by default, why? I can't get a decent grillin session on my rooommates (foreman) nor mine (which was a GE)

My Foreman's Grill is only really good for burger patties (and okay for hotdogs). My parent's have a really great electric grill that they occasionally use instead of the outdoors BBQ grill... can't remember the brand though.

Bah, if I call them they're going to have me come over and fix computers. Better to just wait until I have to see them or they call me.

Theres a grill ban in Austin? :|

There are quite freqently outdoor bans. There was last year for August-October on all outdoor grilling. But at no point can you just have a grill sitting in an apartment balcony. That's year-round, and big fines too.

I'm on my second Foreman grill and love it. I've cooked everything from hamburgers to bratwurst on it. You do have to wait for it to heat up, but once it heats up, it rocks for cooking stuff. I've never experienced a problem with burning the outside while the inside is still raw and I've cooked some thick steaks as well as big hamburger patties. As long as you let it heat up completely (the light turns off), you should be able to cook just about anything.

The Foreman grill I've got now is a huge one that can hold quite a bit of food at once. It also has a bun warmer on the top, which comes in handy now and then.
