What is the best/easy language to learn?

VB.Net has much more future than VB6.

C++ and C# are probably better than either VB for learning "real" programming since they don't hide as much from you and because they use more standardized commands and data types, but I haven't tried VB.Net so perhaps it's not as eccentric as VB6.

I'm not saying VB6 is a bad language, just that it's an odd one shackled by its BASIC heritage.

A "for dummies" book is not an awful choice -- it will use simple writing that is easy to understand.

After that it depends on the language, like Deitel for C++.
