Looking for one and don't know which one offers the best bang for the buck. Thanks.

The Fuji 1400 can be had for $190 after rebate. Get it from Onvia.com for $240 and there is a $50 rebate from the manufacturer website.

I love my Olympus 360L... It's a 1.3meg pixel with nice features. Takes outstanding pics and is best for quick photos of family and others people at close range. It's not pratical for taking pic at far distances as a camara with a optical zoom is superior to digital zoom.

Thanks for the suggestions, I am looking at both cameras and right now it looks like Fuji is winning. Any more ideas?

I like my Fuji 1400, with the exception that it has a voracious appetite for batteries. Just me or are all dig cams this way?

BTW Lukfilm, did my package get there OK?

Get rechargeables. It's the only way to go. Alkaline batteries and digital cameras do to mix well.

Thanks for the help, looks like the Fuji 1400 is the winner for now. I don't really need too good of a camera, it's mainly for me and my girlfriend *cough* ;)

Sluggo,
your package got here OK, thanks so much :)

This question might be stupid, but I'll ask. Are there any cameras that take pictures every certain amount of seconds? Like every 5, or 10 seconds? What is this feature called and how much do the cameras with this feature cost? I think I might need this feature. Thanks.

The Olympus D490 does. it can do quicktime movies at up to 15 frames per second. But it will be difficult to get this camera for less than $400.00.

my opinion it's the best camera on the market. price/performance considered.

Thanks, I looked at that Olympus and it's just too much $$$ right now. I think for around $200 Fuji Fujipix 1400 is really the best bang for the buck. I think I'll go with that even though Fuji reportedly does not offer the $50 rebate anymore, even though it should. Thanks for the help all of you, it is much appreciated and that's the reason why I love these forums. Get an educated answer quick :)

LukFilm - Gee I wonder why you and your g/f would need a digicam with a "timer" on it? Promise to send us the picts?

Fuji is getting A LOT of heat about the rebates, I'm sure they will probably honor it. Or go to a local store and find the real green & white rebate form that almost guarantees that you will get the rebate.

RossMAN, ;)

BTW, thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot and see what I can do. What stores should I try? I have Staples, Circuit City, OfficeMax around.

You should be able to get the "real" Fuji rebate coupon at Staples. Make them look behind the big counter in what looks like a recipe box, that has tons of Mfg. rebates in it, all in alphabetical order. If you have trouble finding one, I might still have one laying around.

Do I hear $1 for a real Fuji rebate coupon? j/k

Now that's just sad when you have to pay someone to get the real rebate form to increase your chances of getting the rebate. Bad FUJI, bad :(

I'm personally fond of my Olympus 340-R. I got it about 3 months ago on clearance at Kmart for $150. It's now been replaced by the 360-R I belive.

You can take a look at the image quality on my vaction pics here

I know that mine allows me to take like 10 shots in a 10 second period. How I do that I have yet to figure out

:)

I like. Very nice especially w/ USB card reader.

Whohooooo!!!! Just found out a way to get the camera about $20 cheaper than at Onvia! Because Staples has it :) So use a $30 coupon, pricematch and off you go! It's only $20 cheaper, because all of us have to pay tax. Now if only the rebate came through... Anyone has the real rebate form? I can't find it anywhere... :( BTW, I just realized how funny the expression "best bang for the buck" in this case is :D
