if you pick Unforgiven, it just means you're too young and haven't seen the others!

Yeah, the Spaghetti Westerns were good in their own way. Great cult value. But The Outlaw Josey Whales was the tops.

Remember "High Plains Drifter". He has the whole town painted red and then names it "Hell". That was a great one too.

How do you think Eastwood's westerns stack up against the Duke? True Grit and The Searchers are friggen classics and hard to beat, and John Wayne made like 200 westerns, however I like Clint's movies better, he didn't make as many of em, and John Wayne had a certain humor at times that was tough to beat, but Clint is the man!

John Wayne did have a certain flair about him. But Clint always struck me as a tougher kinda guy :)

I never really watched a whole John Wayne movie myself and maybe one of these days I should. They say he was one of the best. I just have always been a big fan of Clints, the guy is so freakin cool when he does his parts.

Regardless of the "classic" nature of the older spaghetti westerns, I still choose Unforgiven. Unforgiven is not just a good western, it's a good film.

i've always been confused about clint's westerns.. it seemed like they were all one character right? in different stories? if so.. what was his name in all those movies.

Josey Whales was good, but in my opinion the best ever was The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The guy who played "the Ugly" gave one of the best performances ever IMHO.

There are two types of spurs my friend, those who come through the door, and those who come through the window.

No. In nearly all of his films he's simply a nameless stranger. Especially the Spaghetti Westerns, i.e., The Good the Bad and The Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and Hang Em High.

He was also a nameless stranger in High Planes Drifter and Pale rider, but not at all the same Character

The Good
The Bad
The Ugly

Definatly this movie hands down was the best Eastwood western. Anyone who said Unforgiven must be smoking something. Go rent The Good The Bad and The Ugly and you'll find out why that was his best western.

Me <-- Who happens to have all the Eastwood spaghetti westerns on DVD :D

The Outlas Josey Whales is up there, but Unforgiven is just too good of movie. Rarely does anything so dark come out of Hollywood. I mean, a movie w/o a hero(s), that's spectacular.

:( I have seen the others. Hell I own some of the others. Unforgiven has a much better story though...
