I want to buy an mp3 player to listen to music whether it be between class, or whatever....My only need is that it be small, and fairly inexpensive....

as for storage, I dotn even need that much really.....I dont really know yet, but I honestly think that 1-2 gigs is plenty of songs for me.....

any reccomendations?

I wouldn't get anything RCA.

Nitrus, Karma are nice candidates.
So is the Muvo2

I would recommend at least a 256mb one. 4gb Muvo2 can be had for $160 not long ago. Search for details

target has virgin 128 MB mp3 players on clearance for $64.00. This model also has an SD expansion slot to increase the capacity. Lightweight and good sound quality :).

iRiver IFP-180T I think. I have it, it's a beast. I left it in the wash with my pants, and the dryer. When I took it out, it still worked!

hahaahahaha, 1-2GB for under $100? Pass me your crack pipe please, I want a hit of that.

The closest thing you can get that's quality is about 256MB. I second the Creative Muvo TX. I have the Muvo NX 128MB and just bought my brother in law in the Navy a Muvo TX 256 w/ FM for $135.

at that price i'd grab a cdrw mp3 discman. get some rechargable's and you get 700mb of storage for $1...

and you can drop files onto the cd too. nice way to save a big presentation of word doc or whatever.

I got you all beat.

I bought a Panasonic MP3 CD-Player (has ID3 display, 40hrs of useable battery life on 2 AAs, fairly loud amp, reads directories, reads high-bitrate VBR) for $18 at Fry's. CDs are a nickel a pop; CD-RWs are just a little more; with a 52x burner an Nero I can burn a mix in 2 minutes and be on my way.

Not everyone wants to jog/excercise/carry around something that's 5.5"x5.5"x.75" in dimensions. There's a reason why MP3 players are making CD-players obsolete in the portable music industry.

im very happy w/ my rio s10... it doesnt have a radio tho... but all the rio s# series have like 30 hours life on one double A battery which is exceptional.

I think the rio s35 or s50 have a radio w/ it... they can be had for like $50 now

tru, it's not joggable. but i can toss it in my backpack all day and it wont skip. hard disk based mp3 players have 10min+ buffers, but the newer CD-MP3 players still have respectable 1min buffers.

I don't dispute that - I loved having one during college :) It's just the pure size and portability factor that makes MP3 players so great now. Having used my Muvo, I don't think I'll ever go back to a normal CD player again. MP3 based CD players are hard to beat based solely off price though. Hell for $18 I'd buy one :)
