I am looking for a good forum for Android phone operating systems and apps. Does anyone has any suggestions? I am amazed at how basic functionality really sucks on these things. Stuff like voice dialing using blue tooth and appointment alarms. It seems you get the same stupid ding for every alarm noise no matter how important or how trivial the notification is. I don't want a simple ding for an appointment reminder. I want sirens going off. I don't want any notifications for emails at all.

With android you can change just about...anything. You want to change your alarm? Download Alarm Clock Plus. You don't want email notications? OK then turn them off in settings. If your phone software doesn't include that option, use a 3rd party email. Use the gmail app? Use K-9? Both have options to turn off notifications. Different companies have different email/alarm programs so I can't say for sure what you have normally.

All of your "complaints" are very basic and very easy to change.

OP, what phone do you have?

i'd say the best general one is androidcentral forums, the best technical one is xda forums.

XDA is the way to go. Just make sure to read stickies and post stuff in the appropriate sections.

I usually bounce between XDA and Rootzwiki. Rootz has less of the BS that XDA tends to get with some of the posters, IMO.

There's a few that still only play the default sound (Wordsmith comes to mind) but virtually every app lets you change the notification settings. It's mildly annoying that there's no central place to do it and maintain audio profiles like in BlackBerry OS, but it's there.

Xda is the best for android development. But you'd rather not go in the off topic section... Biggest trolls over there! Even the mods are trolls
