Hi, I defanetly want to overclock my system..

I happened to get a 3700+ a A8n-sli deluxe and 1gig of corsair value ram in a bundle for $355 shipped. I have a DFI sli-d however and am going to sell the A8N deluxe and the corsair also for some good stuff. But, I'm thinking about selling my 3700+ for $220 if a 3200+ will do the same job for $110, any input??

In terms of single core, 3200+ is good for OCing, but opteron 150 series is even better, although it costs a bit more. On the dual core side, an Athlon X2 will give you pretty good overclocks (up to 400/500? on air) but an Opteron 165 is the way to go for DC Overclocking.
Also make sure you dont use Corsair RAM or seasonic PSUs with that DFI Board-there may be compatibility issues

BTW, my price range is $230MAX, I was asking what the best AMD 64 overclocker was.. heard allot about 3200+ getting to 2.9 with some, if so is everything the same other than the MHZ with 3200+ vs 3700+

I have heard however aboud the 3700+ being a cooler running CPU

My 3700+ runs at 3GHz easy on air.

And with double the cache of the 3200+, it's faster at the same clock.

+.1v (although I probably don't need it)

Epox 9NPA+Ultra

Thermaltake Venus 12 @ 50%

37C idle, 41C load.

There isn't much point in getting high grade RAM for A64 sytems untill you're at 7800GT levels or greater (assuming you're thinking gaming) as the performance doesn't match up with the increased spending.

Lol might be the first time I have agreed with a post you have made. Even at the 7800GT levels I dont believe expensive ram is worth it.

There's no guarantee speed when it comes to OC. Some chips are better than others. The 3200 should hit 2300MHz with ease. You will only notice the performance boost of the larger cache when you run Super Pi or other benchmarks. I haven't seen the 3200 for $110 in a long time. Best price is around $150.

1. Venice 3000 E-3 Week 17
2. Opteron 144, many steppings and weeks.

If you are just looking to overclock for fun those seem to be the "funnest" chips.
