What is the best 37"- 45" TV/LCD for a computer monitor?

Hi there. I have a question about LCDs I hope this isnt a repost. I have been doing research on this for a while now. I have decided to buy a new computer monitor for PC gaming, internet, and general computer use. I use Windows XP and I am going to be buying a 8800GTX to go with the new monitor.

So what 37"-45" LCD is best for a computer monitor? For Image quality and resolutions.

I will be using the monitor for gaming quite abit. Do I need to worry about burn-in?

Are you sure you want something that big? If you're just using it on your desk and resolution is a primary concern, maybe a 30" computer monitor with 2560x1600 res would be better for you (if you card is dual-link capable)

I think the 37"-45" LCDs start making sense when you're going to be seated farther away due to more than one person viewing at once.
 
hmmm, the way my desk is setup I actually sit pretty far back about 4 feet or so. maybe even almost 5 because the lcd would be at the very back of the desk.

I noticed that alot of people buy the 37" Westinghouse for a computer monitor. I definitely am considering the Westinghouse but I wonder if there is any other monitors I should be considering?
 
In that case, I think a display like that makes a lot of sense. I just have a hard time imagining some peple who get something like that and basically sit 1-2 feet away from it 😛
 
Well, I have my gaming computer hooked up to a 42" Westy and my HT setup. I sit about... 7-8 feet away and it's perfect. And the best part is, the screen is large enough that I can read all the text fine, yet far enough away that I don't really need to run any AA anymore because the jaggies are not visible from the distance I sit.

If you end up getting the Westy, either 37" or 42" (I have the 42" now and owned the 37" for a year before upgrading), I can tell you that they do NOT burn in, at least not in my experience. My experience includes hundreds of hours on games with stationary HUD's that would burn in very quick if given the opportunity. I'm pretty sure most any LCD is similarly safe against burn-in, though I hear in rare cases it can happen. But with these two particular monitors, I've never seen a hint of it.

i've burned in a 2001fp 20" dell.

sure it took 5 days at work, of accidentally not turning the montiro off, but the little "unlock windows workstation" box got stuck (because our boxes used a proprietary extension box that didnt turn power savings on)
