I want to get a 21 inch monitor, but I don't know which one to get. Is the samsung 1200NF a good monitor? How about the nec 1370, or the viewsonic p225f? I am lost, someone please help me.
I got a 1200NF and it sucked- had to send it back. But 21" monitors vary a lot even within the same model. The 1200NF I got had large areas where text was blurry even at 1280x1024. I tried next an Iiyama Vision Master 505 and it too had the same problems. The Iiyama had really nice text in most areas but the center upper 1/3 of the screen was blurry.
It's really just a lucky of the dice. Whatever you do, make sure the place you buy it from has liberal return policies. Consider getting it from Dell or Gateway. The cheapest online stores can give you a really hard time returning a monitor for "quality" reasons. I'm probably gonna give a SONY G520 a shot next.
My wife's Sony F500R is the best monitor I've seen - and fortunately it worked perfectly out of the box. Got it because - just in case - Sony has a service center within reasonable driving distance. Given the weight of a 21" monitor, I'd regard nearby service as a major factor in brand decision.
