What is the bandwidth on Serial (COM) and Parallel (LPT) ports?

What is the bandwidth on Serial (COM) and Parallel (LPT) ports?

Settle a bet for me?

What is the max transfer rate of Serial and Parallel.
We agree that USB is 12Mb/s or 1.5MB/s but we can't agree on Parallel or Serial.

Got numbers?

Serial is about 115kbps. I remember serial port dual line ISDN modems(128kbps) could provide more bandwidth than the port could handle.

Not sure about parallel, but I think it's about as low.

I believe the max for any COM port is 256000 baud

oops forgot LPT... Max transfer rate on an LPT port 2MB/sec.

Damn..

I thought it was ~230kb/s max for serial and 8Mb/s max for parallel (that's Megabit, which is 1megabyte). I though Parallel was close to USB...is it really only 2? Damn...shows what I know.
