So what is the age gap between you and your girlfriend/SO? And what is too large of an age gap?

Just asking for personal reasons...

Well, the golden rule is always a good way to check how young you can go. It isn't something that'll hold up in court, but always a nice reference point .

your_age / 2 + 7

If the SO is older, just do it on his/her age to see if you're too young.

Stick to the rule as stated above...

That said, my wife is 3 1/2 years younger. We started dating when I was 19 and she was 16 (19/2 + 7 = 16.5) (And when she really was 16.5, I was 20...)

So I was slightly off when we started and it worked out in the end :)

We're 26 and 23 now and going good.

BINGO.

Although I don't think it is a rule, but it is a good estimation of what is socially acceptable.

You were in the same boat I'm in! I'm 19, soon to be 20, and she's 16, going to be 17 come November.

Once you're out of school I don't think it matters much as long as you're both doing the same thing in life. If she's an easy going artist and you're starting a law career it probably won't work. If one of you is 25 and one of you is 40 and you're both working adults it probably won't matter, at least until the other dies ;)
