What is the affiliation with the producers of Oz and the producers of the Law & Order Series?

They seem to share actors like crazy. Examples:
L&O Role/Show | Oz Role | Actor Name

Stabler on SVU = Keller = Christopher Meloni
Dr Huang on SVU = Father Ray = BD Wong
Dr Skoda on L&O = Schillinger = JK Simmons
New DA Investigator on TBJ = Alvarez = Kirk Acevedo
Cassidy on SVU = O'Reilly = Dean Winters
Bit Part on L&O = Augustus = Harold Perrineau Jr.
2 Bit Parts on 2 L&O episodes = Beecher = Lee Tergesen
Recurring defense lawyer on SVU, one L&) appearance = Dr. Nathan = Lauren Vélez

There are literally dozens more who have had minor recurring roles on both, and another connection with Homicide: Life on the Streets, but I'm not bored enough to go so in depth. Just thought it was weird; anyone else ever notice this?

Oz and Homicide were created by the same writer-producer (Tom Fontana). There is no official connection with Law and Order. (Different producer, but maybe they're friends.

I see...I guess these guys get typecast into the cop/lawyer/criminal roles as well.

watch enough episodes of Law and Order and you'll see just about every actor in existance ;)

the lady who played The Oracle in The Matrix was even in a couple episodes. heh.

Dean Winters was really crappy on SVU, I'm glad he didnt stay. He was fine in Oz though.... Speaking of Oz, I think season 4 just came out on dvd.

Tonight's SVU/TBJ has the woman who played the nun in Oz. I'll have to add that to the list!
