I'm currently looking at buying a new pair of sunglasses. I wanted to buy a pair of oakleys, but now I'm hesitant because they're so expensive. Anyways, I found a replica pair for around $20.

What will be the difference? Does the quality of the expensive sunglasses warrant the heftier price tag?

Probably just the lenses, they wouldnt filter as much UV (maybe), maybe the frame wouldnt be made of as high a quality material than the real deals...

Oakley makes great goggles for snowboarding. I buy less expensive polarized sunglasses though.

It's no different than buying Sam Club blue jeans vs. Guess. I find the quality of Foakley's to be a joke. When you pay $100+ for some shades you tend to take better care of them. In fact I've had my C-Wires for roughly 6 years and they still look like new.

You have to own these sunglasses to understand the difference.

You get what you pay for.

I have eyes made of solid gold and I can tell.

...and other such garbage...

i tend to be much much more careful with the expensive pair. must be psychological.

(oh, except for a few months ago when i went to orlando. it was kinda bright everywhere so i always had my polarized a-wires on, even in the wave pool :sun::cool:

Polarized lenses with all the coatings on them are easier on the eyes. More visibility, less glare.

The lens are better in the more expensive sunglasses. The cheap ones usually use a coating of some kind for sun protection while the expensive ones have several layers right in the glass.

Used cheap ones for a couple years then switched to Oakleys and never looked back. I much prefer them above anything else I've had.

If you buy expensive ones then women will throw themselves at you, at least the expensive ones will.

As someone who works in a sporting goods store who sells Oakley's, I don't like 'em. I think they are at least moderately overpriced and you buy the name.

Check out Smith Optics...they make some good stuff...

Definitely Smith. I love their interchangable lenses.
