What is the -5V for?

New startup that won't. Little power supply tester(on the 24 pin) has all lights on except the one at -5V. Can't find any ref. Is the power supply OK? What is the -5V used for? Beep error says no memory detected. Using approved Corsair vengeance.

Did you try different slot with different memory?

Modern power supply don't have -5v anymore, it was used back in the day of ISA Cards.

Thanks for the power supply info. Makes sense.
I started out with 4X8 Dimms. Pulled all but the one at slot 2(MB manual says if only one dimm, use slot 2). Tried 3 dif dimms in that slot.

-5V was used for reverse biasing the silicon body of a chip from its individual transistors, necessary for some very old chips that lack the ability to generate that voltage internally.
