What would you say are the 5 best martial arts movies of all time, or even just your 5 favorites?

These can be anything from action movies with light martial arts to full blown kick butt, numbchuck, throwing star, ninja sword type martial arts movies.

My favorites are:

1. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
2. Matrix/Matrix Reloaded
3. Iron Monkey
4. Shanghai Noon
5. Shanghai Knights

What about you guys?

I don't see how any of those movies (save for Iron Monkey since i haven't seen it) can even be as remotely good as a Bruce Lee film?? Or even Jet Li's films.

Btw, can anyone recommend any Jackie Chan movies (the older ones) that are in english or atleast have english subtitles? I heard there is a car related movie of his, but I dunno the name.

1. Drunken Master II (Legend of Drunken Master in the US)
2. Fong Sai Yuk series
3. Once Upon a Time in China series
4. Iron Monkey
5. Police Story series

I think Bruce Lee's movies don't portray his actual martial arts skills as much as they could. That one with Chuck Norris is pretty awesome though.

Matrix??? Not sure if that ranks up there... you're listing more new stuff. Most of the "best" are older ones like Bruce Lee and stuff.

Well, I did say those were my favorites, not nessisarily the best out there. I mentioned that you could list either your favorites, or which ones you thought were best.

not in any order.

Bloodsport
Enter the Dragon
Perfect Weapon
Game of Death
Master Killer

EDIT: Any top 5 list without 'Enter the Dragon' is totally absurd.

We have a wiNnAr

But without Bruce Lee's films, kung fu movies most likely wouldn't exist right now.

p.s. I would rank Once Upon a Time in China series above the rest because no films can compare to the choreography in this series.

So the Model T has to be in everyone's top 10 production car list?

I always liked Rumble in the Bronx, I thought that had some good martial arts.

Iron Monkey

Hmm ... that's only four ... oh well. :)

Oh wait, Princess Mononoke is pretty good ... not really sure if it's a "martial arts" movie, but "eh" ...

That car movie is called Thunderbolts. It wasn't really all that great. It's about racing ricers. If you like rice burners, then it's pretty cool to look at all those cars.

Chinese Super Ninjas!! The best is when that one d00d was fighting the Earth Elemental and his intestines were hanging out. He still killed a couple of ninjas before getting the big axe himself. I used to watch this all the time at my friend's house when I was little! :D
