What is System Idle Process and why is it taking so much resource?

i am looking at the task manager, and its taking up to 95% of my chip processor power. can i do a end process on it? is it a spyware software? (the last thing i put on my computer was itunes)

It's the "idle" process - it's not really doing anything. Basically any of the OS's time slices that don't get allocated to another process get used by the system idle process, which is probably just a loop of NOPs.

that number for System Idle Process is not "taking up" CPU. it's actually how much cpu is "spare". watch your "CPU Usage" percentage at the bottom of task manager. as that goes up, the System Idle Process goes down. no worries.

I pay all this money for a fast CPU and it's just sitting there IDLING? What a load of horseshit. It should be doing my taxes or some shit....

You've got a lazy CPU. It happens for 1 out of 1000 processors, because of a fault in production the metal is over stretched it needs to rest.
